SurfaPure™ Surface Disinfectants are used to eliminate harmful pathogens; however, disinfecting does not equate to thoroughly sterilizing them. Disinfectants are used as part of many sterilization and decontamination processes, and the primary goal of sterilization is to eliminate all living and foreign material from the sterilized area. Many different chemical agents can be used as disinfectants; however, no disinfectant is ideal for every job. A disinfectant against one type of bacteria may not be effective against others, such as fungi.

The goal for choosing the proper disinfectants include:

  • Safety and Reactivity Balance. Highly reactive disinfectants could react in a harmful manner if applied to a surface contaminated with certain chemicals.
  • The safety of the disinfectant must also be considered separately from reactivity concerns. Disinfectants usually contain toxic chemicals; the most potent disinfectants harm human health. This disinfectant is typically used in highly pathogenic environments, such as hospitals, where high levels of disinfection are necessary to prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases.
